Outlaws Can’t Beat the Heat in Regina

Regina, SK - The Outlaws travelled to the Queen City on Saturday afternoon for a matinee game with the Regina Heat.

Regina opened the scoring 3:43 into the game. The Heat would add 2 more in the opening frame to go up 3-0. The Outlaws best chance was in the dying seconds of the first period. PA goaltender Tanner Fetch fed a pass deep to Brody Holizki to send him on a shorthanded break-away. Holizki caught Heat goaltender Jimmy Magnaye by surprise but was able to get just enough of it to keep it out. Prince Albert went into the first intermission down 3-0.

The Heat’s Fraiser Belanger beat Fetch to go up 4-0 at the 3:40 mark of the second period. Prince Albert would answer right back. Arliss Mcloy was able to get a pass through to a cutting Brendin Currie who was able to find the back of the net while getting checked to make it 4-1. The score stayed that way until the 13:47 mark when Joe Laprairie made it 5-1 for the Heat. Tempers started to flare late in the period. Regina’s Stephen Watson hit Kallen Currie high and from behind in a dangerous spot near the end boards. After a brief scrum and some words between both teams, Brendin Currie was ejected from the game. The Outlaws would end up on the powerplay but Regina added a shorthanded marker to go up 6-1. With 30 seconds left in the middle stamza, Holizki caught a pass at the top of the crease and made a no look between the legs shot that beat Magnaye five-hole to make it 6-2.

Regina would score 2 more in the first half of the third to go up 8-2. An already depleated Outlaws offense lost another in the third. Ryan Potie would jump for a pass and get hit and land funny. He was helped off the floor and didn’t return. Midway through the period, Fetch would hit Mcloy with a break-away pass, and Mcloy delivered to make it 8-3. Regina would score two more in the last 5 minutes and take this one 10-3.

Brody Holizki would score one goal and add an assist, while Tanner Fetch allowed 10 goals in the loss.

The Outlaws will travel back down to Saskatoon to take on the Brewers on Sunday night. Game time at the Gordie Howe Kinsmen Arena is 7:00 pm.
